Work

A security engineer and software developer, I have a passion for building secure platforms in support of business objectives and delivering frictionless value to consumers.

I currently work at Ally Financial as a Technical Lead in the Customer Identity and Access Management space. I have learned quite a bit in this role and have had incredible growth. I assist in managing our CIAM orchestration tool as well as numerous APIs regarding customer credentials management.

I also perform dependency and vulnerability management for multiple Springboot applications.

Projects

With the assistance of AI, I have newfound enjoyment of quickly and efficiently buidling personal projects I've always wanted to build without feeling burnt out from the long hours of development I do during the workday.

My first project was this website. It is deployed via Terraform to AWS using custom certificates to support HTTPS. The architecture is applied via CI/CD pipelines in GitLab in a two stage process. First, I make testable changes to the website itself on the develop branch which is deployed to qa.colefaucheux.com. You can try, but you won't be able to access it... (if you do, please tell me so I can learn). Anyways, once I'm satisfied with how the changes look, I then merge the code to the main branch which deploys it to the S3 bucket and site you are on now.

QA Site

Pi-hole

My most recent project was a Pi-hole server that can be deployed with a single command once the preserequisites are downloaded (WSL, Docker for Windows, Git for Windows). Once the programes are downloaded and the host machine's DHCP lease is static, you can run the one-liner and configure your Pi-hole server. By default, it is routed through the Family Cloudflare DNS servers for extra malware protection, but this is completely customizable. I have plans to add a WireGuard server to the project to gain the same adblocks capabilities everywhere I go. You can find the project here: gitlab.com/colefauch/pihole-local
